It may be tempting to stay by the pool at the apartment just admiring the views but there are some stunning beaches nearby which can easily be reached by bus or by boat trips.
Kalkan Town Beach
This is quite a small pebble beach but it’s handy for a quick dip! It may become crowded in the height of summer but it’s central and close to all amenities.
40 minutes approximately by bus or 20 minutes drive brings you to Patara Beach. This is the real jewel of the Lycian Coast, 20 km of pure white sand.
It is home to protected turtles and according to mythology, Apollo lived here and was possibly born here as was St Nicholas (Father Christmas!) The ancient ruins of Patara are only a 10-15 minute walk from the beach and are fascinating - you could easily spend several hours investigating .
15 minutes by bus or take one of the gullet trips from the harbour. It is a truly beautiful secluded bay at the foot of a huge ravine. Be warned, there are many steps down to the beach... and consequently back up to the main road!
There are many beach clubs around Kalkan but the nearest beach club to the villa is Kalkan Beach Club which is only 300 metres away. Kalkan Beach Club is perhaps less manicured than others but it is family friendly and its facilities, sun beds, etc. are free of charge. This beach club actually has a small pebble beach so that access to the sea can be had via the beach or via steps. There is a water slide for children.
There are a number of other beach clubs around the bay providing sunbathing platforms cut into the rockside.
